ICEmobile Expands Rich Mobile Application Development for Java EE

Adds JSP/Spring Integration in Addition to Existing JSF/ICEfaces Support

CALGARY, AB -- (Marketwire) -- 09/27/12 -- ICEsoft Technologies Inc., a leading global supplier of open source technologies for enterprise, is pleased to announce that ICEmobile now provides a JSP Tag Library with all the web controls required to build mobile applications using JSP.

ICEmobile is an open source project for the development of hybrid mobile applications using pure Java EE, web-based techniques. With ICEmobile, you build a single web application that looks, feels, and behaves like a native application on any of the world's most popular mobile devices, with no need for native application development.

"ICEmobile leverages mobile browsers' support for HTML5, CSS3, and Ajax to create web-based applications where the client presentation matches the device's native look and feel, but is delivered via a secure, enterprise-strength, Java backend," states Stephen Maryka, CTO at ICEsoft. "Our new JSP / Spring Integration will allow more enterprise developers to easily build enterprise mobile web apps."

ICEmobile provides direct integration with the following Java EE presentation layer technologies:

JSP/Spring Integration - NEW!
ICEmobile's automatic device detection and theming ensures that your JSP application adopts the expected look and feel of the devices that it is being accessed from. When combined with the ICEmobile Containers, certain tags provide access to native device capabilities, enabling hybrid applications. Popular third party middleware technologies like Spring MVC can be added to the mix to further simplify and fortify application development, and various Ajax techniques can be overlaid to enhance the mobile user experience.

JSF Integration
ICEmobile leverages the ICEfaces 3 Framework to support mobile application development using JSF. ICEmobile inherits all the benefits of ICEfaces including Automatic Ajax and Ajax Push, which simplify and revolutionize JSF-based development. The ICEmobile Component Suite provides all the mobile controls you need to build cross-platform mobile applications, and can be combined with the ICEmobile Containers to access native device capabilities, and produce hybrid mobile applications.

Availability and Licensing

ICEmobile 1.1, with Beta version of the JPS / Spring Integration, is available for download now at: http://www.icesoft.org/downloads/icemobile-downloads.jsf

ICEmobile 1.2, with FCS version of the JSP / Spring Integration is expected in Q4, 2012.

ICEmobile is free to use and distribute under the Apache 2 open source license.
